Our team’s research and teaching focus on Social Choice and collective decision-making, taxation, fiscal federalism, and public debt regulation. We study how individual preferences are aggregated into collective outcomes and how political and economic institutions shape public-sector decisions.

Social choice is the study of how individual opinions, preferences, or votes can be aggregated into a group decision. It looks at questions such as how elections should work, how winners should be chosen, and whether a decision-making rule is fair. In simple terms, social choice tries to understand how a society can turn many different personal choices into a collective outcome.
